DRAW SHOT-

A shot in which the cue ball is struck below center in order to spin the cue ball backwards after striking the object ball.

The draw shot, also known as the backspin or screw shot, is a cornerstone of advanced cue ball control, allowing a player to make the cue ball come backward after it strikes the object ball. This effect is created by striking the cue ball below its center with a firm, level stroke. The force of the stroke imparts rapid backspin to the cue ball, and when this spinning cue ball makes contact with the stationary object ball, the friction between the two causes the cue ball to "grip" the object ball and then rebound backward along the line of aim. The amount of draw achieved is directly related to how low on the cue ball you hit, the firmness of your stroke, and the distance to the object ball. Mastering the draw shot is essential for intricate position play, as it allows players to recover from difficult angles, pull the cue ball away from pockets to avoid scratching, or set up precise angles for future shots, demonstrating a high level of cue ball manipulation.
